NEW PAINTING - Feeding John Malkovich

Feeding John Malkovich tw.jpg

Finally!!! After several hours correcting the colours in the background, and adding tiny fingernails to the hands, toenails to the feet, here it is.

Someday I hope to get much applause to my many many hours of dedication to jokes. Someone asked me recently how I keep myself going through long projects, such as this. When I first started , I wouldn't have been able to. I rushed quite a lot more. I'm sure in a few years time, my patience for details will expand further. I hope it will. Patience is a skill like any other. With the dexterity of technical skill comes also the need for patience. Some movements are slow, some are very repetitive. In the end, the memory of how long and painstaking something was to do fades from my memory, but the piece lives on.

I think also, the more trust you have in your abilities, the more time you're willing to sacrifice for the sake of the final product.

In the next few days, I'm going to order some prints of this piece for the people who have put in requests, plus one or two for Malkovich himself, and his friend, Sandro Miller, whose photography project inspired this painting.

I saw this, and I thought - Genius! I felt a pang of jealousy, and needed to get in on the fun. And so this painting was born. Being John Malkovich is such a good movie, too.

Here are progress shots as this piece has come to be!

HI @rachelsvparry, wow I am BUFF.... Although I am not religious and I do not like the pictures from that time I really like what you did there! The amount of detail and the color compensation is just insane!

I like to see more form you :)

This is genius! What a great concept for a painting. Also the original photo series inspiration is amazing, I hadn't seen that before. Wow. Seriously this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on Steem :) Great job! How big is this painting? So many Malkovich's!

Thanks so much, @carlgnash! What a compliment. :D

It's 18 x 24". Not super big. Each Malkovich face is a bit bigger than my thumb.

That is maybe even more impressive - that is really a lot of Malkovich to fit in 18 x 24"!
