Hello! Fortunately, the light came, but the water has not yet arrived since yesterday that we do not have, and well, I feel that I should already be used to these trances, but I have not managed to avoid becoming immune to all these situations (GREAT AND HUGE SIGHT). We go to the part that I took all this time without light to perform this reinterpretation of "The Sibylus Delphic", painted by one of the greatest masters who has trod this earth, the beloved Miguel Angel; It is located in the Sistine Chapel along with other frescoes of the prophets of the Old Testament, these Sibyls were considered pagan because they could supposedly see the future, in fact, it unwinds a scroll that could contain a prophecy, while looking to the right with a surprise expression.
.
.
“The sibyls were characters of antiquity, of pagan religions prior to Christianity. Their role in Greek civilization was of capital importance and they came to influence wars and governments of the "polis". The most famous of them all was the Sibyl of Delphi, or Sibylla Delphic, located in the navel of the world, as Delphi was considered. The role of the sibyls was similar to that of the Old Testament prophets; It was considered that they possessed divinatory powers and among them a belief was extended in the end of the world and in the arrival of a savior, which the Christians quickly adapted to their Messiah, extending the announcements of his coming even to the world of Greco-Roman Antiquity. Michelangelo had trained in the Neoplatonic Florence that sought to bring together the concepts of Plato's Greek philosophy with Christian beliefs, in an attempt to make religion rational and understandable. For this reason Michelangelo raises the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel divided into three strips: in the center, scenes from the Old Testament and Genesis related to the presence of God in the world. On one side, the Jewish prophets, and on the other, the sibyls. This Delphic Sibyl is one of Michelangelo's most beautiful, who had a lot of difficulty painting female figures, since she used to simply draw the muscular body of an athlete and attach two female breasts. After the sibyl, who no longer looks at his texts but attends directly to the presence of Christ, there are two little angels who read the prophetic texts about the arrival of the Messiah. This attitude has to do with the presence or remoteness of the divinity, as we can understand in the figures of Zacariaso Ezekiel.” (Excerpted from; Art History)

It makes me laugh the face that I made because mine has an expression of disgust, I think it is influenced by the lack of light and water 😂❤
The image is taken from this book that I borrowed from the library of a very cultured lady, already 87 years old, always looking to start a conversation about culture and art, in addition to telling me about all her experiences traveling, in fact, the book acquired when she went to Italy, she told me how amazed she was when visiting this sanctuary that contains such beautiful pieces, I know that one day I will go see it with my own eyes, and when that happens I will cry for the aesthetic experience I will have in that moment, until then I must settle for the images in the book.

STEPS/PASOS

I used the color red to sketch the face, while partially "taking the measurements", I put it in quotes because I really do not do that so I did it very superficially in the way that my teachers told me that I should NOT do hahahaha. I was filling with red first, then to generate the shadows I threw the blue on it creating a purple hue.

🌿 🌿 🌿

You have to manage very well the human anatomy to generate a result remotely similar to the works of Michelangelo, I honestly lack a lot, that's why I can not remove the grimace of disgust from the face of my drawing.

FotoJet (7).jpg

🌿 🌿 🌿

I tinted the face with yellow, accentuating certain areas, in addition to providing a greater volume to the face.

🌿 🌿 🌿

The drawing that is next to it is one that I am trying to do on the cell phone with the app, be patient, when I finish it I will upload it, if it looks good, because I still can't get the technique to the question.

There is something that I do not enjoy doing beside the backgrounds, and that are the clothes, generating the folds seems very tedious for me, I think it is one of the reasons why my figures are always naked (curiosities of Saouri) 😃. Finally, place geometric figures in the background with the colors she wore on her dress, a little to avoid losing continuity and give greater dynamism and color to the composition perceiving it much more vibrant, not forgetting the personal touch that generates the lines that It gives me pastel oil, on the other hand, I almost forgot, I highlight the area of the head scarf, I love how that part was left, I think I ignore everything else because in that area the lines integrated so perfectly It seems as if they were part of a fabric print, it was an unexpected and beautiful result, it is those little things that fill you with surprise and love towards work. Something that caught my attention while coloring was the hair, possibly done with a dry brush technique, because it is like he did not take so much time there, however you can appreciate the movement of each fiber, in addition to some areas of the clothes that It has plot species, it's amazing how he managed to do all this and giant size I love him hahaha :(.

FotoJet (10).jpg

What a wonderful reinterpretation, Saouri, I think you captured the classical features well. And I love the colours you worked with here, too :D

Although, like you, I was quite amused that her expression seem to be one of critical opinion.... Maybe she's expressing her opinions about the black out!!!

Lovely step by step presentation, as usual, and I hope the electricity troubles will be lesser in the future.

Hug hug~
