Gerbera and Butterfly Crochet
Hi Steemit! :-)
I'd like to share with you how I made these crocheted gerbera and butterflies. I made these for my friend recently as she was going to a hippy wedding, I attached wire to the back and she put them in her hair.
For the gerbera
1. With brown wool, make a magic circle with 10 half treble (htr) crochets in it.
2. Attach pink wool to the front loop only and do a picout (chain 3 and then use a slip stitch (ss) to join the 3rd stitch to the 1st, then join it to the loop) between each stitch all the way around.
3. Attach the pink wool to the back loop and chain 8, then work a double crochet (dc) into each stitch until you get back down to the bottom. Join it to the next loop (on the brown circle) using a ss and repeat in each loop until you get back to the beginning. Tie off and detach.
4. With the pink wool, ch 10 and join the last ch to the first ch to make a loop. *Ch 8, then work 1 dc into each ch until you get to the bottom. Attach with a ss to the loop. Repeat from * 10 times so that you get a circle of petals.
5. Then gently insert the second ring of petals between the two rounds of the flower (the picout row and the petal row). Use a wool needle to stitch in place.
Done!
For the butterfly
1. Ch 4 then attach the last ch to the first ch to make a loop.
2. Ch 2, work a htr into the loop, ch 2 then use a ss to attach to the loop.
3. *Ch 3, work 2 treble crochets (tr) into the loop, ch 3 then use a ss to attach to the loop. Repeat from *.
4. Ch 2, work a htr into the loop, ch 2 then use a ss to attach to the loop. Tie off and detach wool.
5. I then used a ss to go around the edge with blue wool, but you don't have to, it look good without!
6. Use brown (or any colour, really!) wool to tie around the middle of the butterfly to pinch it in.
