Artoteca - Art in the library of my city
About one months ago, the library in my city invited all the local artists to donate one of their artworks on paper for a very nice project colled the Artoteca. The Artoteca project has the objective to create a storage of artworks that people can borrow for max 60 days, so people who don't have enough money to buy artwork, can borrow a piece of art for free for 2 months. I think it's a nice opportunity, because thanks to this project every person can have a piece of art at home for a little time and every local artist can share a bit of him/herself and of him/her art in the city. Our library is one of the bigger library in Italy and thanks many many different initiatives is really the cultural heart of the city, so, this morning, there was the inauguration of the Artoteca with many journalists and also the tv ^_^
I took some pics to share with you and in the first you can see the pieces that me and my hubby @paolobeneforti donated to this project:
About 20 artists donated one artwork (just little piece on paper, the library put them in the frames that you can see in the photos) and others are asking to donate something. A commission examined the requests and every accepted artwork has been catalogue using the same way for the books borrowing ^_^
As usual, at the end of the inauguration, there was a taste breakfast for all!
See ya soon
Silvia
THAT's a good idea!
What a wonderful idea - this could catch on.
I can see "renting" art business coming out from this.
Rent a work of art for 5 months like people do cars - could work
maybe it could be a nice way for people to be close to art, especially contemporary art, a way to "open" their mind. Here in my city, a large part of citizens are not really open to art that is not "classical" art. We have some interesting pieces/installation of contemporary art in some square and in the museum, but the most part of people say just "it's not art, because we can't understand what it represent and so we don't like it". I think it's just because in our schools there is a big attention to the ancient art (it's true, we have more wonderful pieces of ancent art), but just few attention to teach something about contemporary art. Our library are sharing some meeting with artists open to the citizens where the artists explain their pieces and their point of view about art. Fortunately there are many people who partecipate at this meetings (that are enough "informal" to attract people who didn't study art). It's just a little step to know art, but I hope it helps ^_^
Really excellent initiative Silvia : )
What a wonderful initiative and people can rotate according to their tastes. Sort of like the little free book libraries people put out along the road here. 🐓
I love the little free book libraries along the road, we don't have similar thing in my city, but there are similar place in other italian city and they are so nice!!! ^_^
It's a great idea that allows to store art and share it with a lot of people. Your picture has a soul and it gives a gracious mood!
Thanks so much, @tanata ^_^
Very good.
Thanks, @methusalem ^_^
good to see that people still love to go to such places, in an era where everyone is stuck on their phones
I totally agree with you ;)
very nice that your library does that :)
Yes, it's a very nice initiative ^_^
Your husband @paolobeneforti is also a painter. I am very jealous of you guys.
Amazing couple i think
Yes, my hubby is a painter from many many years and he teached (and he teaches also now) me art ^^ Thanks so much for your nice words ^^
So beautiful.
I really want to have the ability to paint, but it does not seem to be easy unless you have the talent to do it.
The secret to paint is exercise your hands every day and have fun to experiment yourself ^_^
I have a tremor hand. every picture I want to draw will look bumpy on its line. besides, I am sure to become a painter requires that we have a high imagination.
Good for you! I would totally participate in something like this too!
And i like your painting you did ! :-)
Many thanks, @agneslaczo ^_^
