Another Female Knight Painting
Another painting done for a card game

"Hex: Shards of Fate by Cryptozoic".
You can see a couple previous posts about it on my profile. This one was made the same way, sketched and painted in Photoshop, using photos for reference, on a Wacom Intuos 3.
Here's an earlier sketchy version:
Hm, I really managed to screw up her left elbow/arm didn't I. That's what happens when deadline's too tight, and you don't use proper references for every little bit. Bad anatomy and bad posing. I really feel like fixing it now... but I don't have time, I'm working on a cover for a comic commissioned by another Steemian, and an entry for a Steem contest, and my Patreon videos, and my own comic... aaaaaaaa
Thanks for watching!
Yay can't wait for seeing that cover art for our mutual friend!! 😃
About this one here, hehe I was about to comment "but that arm looks weird" anyway even with the botched arm the piece is still Impressive, I'm sure when you fix it it will be 10 times better 😎
Thank you!
Yeah I think the main problem is the foreshortening and ellipses on that arm - shoulder armor, elbow, edge of glove etc. They show wrong perspective. Eccentricity is off, ellipses should be more circular, and overlap more. It would take re-painting the arm basically. I might try it today or tomorrow, as I just finished the cover and almost finished with the contest entry... :)
It also appear to be squeezing the helmet like a bag or pillow, will you be using 3D for getting the arm shape and pose right? 😃 If you do please post the process I'd like to see if I can learn something by watching you work hehe
nah, I did it just now, it was quicker than I thought. I just took a quick look in the mirror and saw what my main mistake was, sketched on top then moved some stuff around, repainted some other stuff, it's not highly polished but now I must start on a different piece! :)
Yep already looking much better :D
Whoaaaaa! What a difference between the sketch and the final work! Amazing evolution! :-D
Thank you!
very nice digital painting! How you do the metallic texture? I'm starting whit that
With metal it's more about the balance of dark and lights, which is completely different from other materials, than about texture. (Also, with colored metals, the color of the highlights is very important.)
The texture part is relatively easy, in this case I used a brush textured to make random scratchy lines, sometimes used for grass, and then used Unsharp Mask to pop it out.
Yeah, a girl with warhammer - nice :)
Wow! That's a super awesome painting! I wish I could draw like this!
Seems like a great picture to use as an avatar for a RPG or something similar!
Thanks!
ah never thought of that, yeah you might be right :)
Nice!
Nice one, Keep the good Work
Out of topic, btw I posted a picture from Sweden, I thought of you since youre the first person from Sweden that Ive known from steemit had a bit of small conversation too :D

Cool, I went to art school in Stockholm! And when I did my military service, I was one of those soldiers guarding the royal palace (not that one, and just for 24 hours). :)
