I think there is a lot more deep meaning in this painting than I have the ability to describe. The image in the chandelier looks to me to be the same as the person in the chair? Hmm? My first thought was a religious character in a diving bell of divine light.
What I CAN say for sure with my meager art skills/comprehension of such, is that you are amazing at painting a really realistic brick wall. Looks almost like a photograph. Sorry I can't come up with more than that. Combination of late-night, working on a post rummies and lack of any art training, really puts the kibosh on any deep-thought dynamics here. Sigh...
Man I really enjoyed painting those bricks. Somehow even the mortar is believable, I'm happy with the bricks, if nothing else in this piece. I appreciate you're noticing my bricks!
Definitely, the image in the chandelier corresponds with the scene below, apparent worship of a deity of some sort.
Looking at this with a night of sleep...I would say the deity and money and being in a celebratory place seemed to be at the heart of it, and the heart, on the infamous brick wall, sort of a simple view here...but a kind of love of monetary gain, etc. Also...didn't mean to insinuate that the brick wall was the best part of the art...just that it was very well done.
The bricks were my favorite part so I thought your artistic eye was accurate there. The bricks are close to realism, while everything else in the painting is more 'painted' looking, as I see it.
Money is designed to resemble God in many ways, and is worshipped as such. 'The One', especially, is a magical device, perpetuating the spell. Now, i'm not going to act like I know exactly what the painting means, I'm just the messenger sometimes.
What I think? Superb.
Worship of money? Or the almighty dollar? I should probably not even try to guess at the symbolism right now, mind's too muddy. Greatest security...with the hearts, love? The scales, cool. I'm definitely going to have to look at this one tomorrow when my brain works. But of course I love it :)
Yes money masquerades as God, and is worshipped the same. I tried to put myself in this one, the guy walking by outside, but it's not a very good likeness. Worst self-portrait ever. ;)
Um, if you saw my drawing/painting skills, you would never call anything about your art the worst ever, I promise you that! I like the guy walking by outside, regardless of who he looks like ;)
I had to look on a real dollar bill to see what that shape is in the lower left corner of your painting. Also, from the original dollar bill it is a pyramid with a capstone. I realize though, looking at my dollar bill, the pyramid shown on it isn't the Great Pyramid because it isn't an equilateral triangle. It has two sides longer than the base is wide and I think ...aren't these connected to magic or the Illuminati or something? I wish I could see your distortion better. What is it?
I found the torn bill somewhere, pasted it on the canvas, and for some reason painted a sort of cartoon curled up sleeping dog instead of restoring the pyramid.
Lol. In Dog we trust... :)
OK, I thought it might be a dog but I wasn't sure.
It certainly is interesting. To me, real art is something that holds your attention and curiosity. It invites study. The brick wall with the heart and the crack in the cement grabs my attention. So I want to solve the puzzle.
Oh cool you caught the broken heart! I wondered if anyone would notice that. I figured that the golden lady was going to break a few here and there I suppose.
