Art for life: A visit to the National Museum of Fine Arts (Also my first time in an art museum).

in #art6 years ago
The National Museum of Fine Arts (name translated from the spanish name Museo Nacional de Buenos Aires) (MNBA) is a museum and an Argentine art gallery with offices in the City of Buenos Aires and in the city of Neuquén (MNBA Neuquén). It has the greatest artistic heritage of the country and is one of the main ones in Latin America. This weekend had the chance to visit this awesome place, in order to give myself a dose of art and knowledge.

Personally, I had always dreamed of going to a museum of such magnitude. I never thought that I would get to see a work by Picasso, Monet or Renoir in a museum in Latin America. Art is for everyone and for everyone, I guess my skepticism towards the Latin continent has been vindicated. I still can not repair my laptop, but that will not stop me from showing you some pictures that I could do with my smartphone, with the promise of showing the rest as soon as I have the opportunity.

The MNBA was profiled, since its foundation, as an eclectic museum, whose collection was growing from important acquisitions and donations. A work by the French painter Auguste Renoir was purchased in 1907 with public funds, the year in which the Metropolitan Museum of New York also incorporated its first Renoir. Together with the French school, both Italian and Spanish are the most important numerical heritage.

The first donations received by the museum were the collections of Adriano Rossi and José Prudencio de Guerrico, at the same time that Schiaffino himself did not hesitate to ask the collaboration of friends and collectors to increase the museum's heritage.

The most impressive thing about this museum is that it IS FREE. Yes, as you hear ... You should not spend a penny to visit it. It draws my attention, I think about how to get the works, what kind of business will be behind it, but all that negativity is going to be perplexed before a painting by Vincent Van Gogh himself.

Now.. Let’s see some of my favorite sculptures.

Bagnante seduta (Bañista sentada) by Tantardini, Antonio Carlo, 1861. The contrast of the room with sculpture is simply amazing. Also.. look at the little sculpture behind, judging this beautiful lady.

La Clarina, also by Tantardini, 1870. It belongs to the last stage of Tantardini's production and evidences the continuity in the choice of the female figure as a theme (according to the MNBA).

Les premières funérailles (The first funerals), by Barrias, Louis-Ernest, 1878 (I think).

The imposing 2,20 m tall plaster represents the first parents, Adam and Eve, who transport the dead body of their son Abel, victim of the jealousy of his brother Cain.. According to the label next to it.

I forgot the name of this one.. Silly me. If you have any idea of its name, please let me know. I tried to Google it.. but not that good detective. It reminds me of Hercules.

Since November 2013, the official website of the Museum has an online collection of its collection, with high-definition photos and texts in Spanish, English and Portuguese on different works written by Argentine art academics.. The collection is divided according to schools, periods, objects, styles and authors. By the end of 2014 it had more than 2,000 works.

You can check the website here.

This is just the part of my sculptures, wait to see the paintings! I’ll show you in the next posts, this museums has pieces of Monet, Renoir, Miró, even Van Gogh! I know.. I still owe you a lot of photos from the trip to La Plata.. Let me get my computer back!! Be patience, the good stuffs are worth waiting. Cheers.

Photos were made using my MotoG5 s Plus.

Saludos

@vanessapineda7 it's looks so real such a great artwork [MNBA] Buenos aires

great coverage vanessa!
