Artist's Post Number Two
Hello, this is my second post and I wanted to share a little more about me. First off, I've been spending time perusing other posts and I didn't want to just 'post & go' with a pic or something, but at the same time, I've never taken images of my art during the process as other authors/artists have done so I'll work on that. Like I mentioned, I'm a abstract artist, mainly because my drawing skills are highly inadequate haha. I suppose I'm a very structured artist, which is ironic because I'm a pretty unstructured personality. I have two types of art I specialize in, geometric abstract and template abstract. I also do a PWYW but that's something for another post.

The image above shows my tools of the trade for geometric creations, it contains a variety of architecture templates, various shaped rulers and some household items, the white thing is actually a sock insert I found in a new pair of socks, the shape is wonderful and has been used in a few of my creations. There is also a plastic piece that came with a plugin scented candle, the drop like shapes have come in handy!

This is an example of my geometric abstract style. This particular piece was inspired by Kandinsky. BiPolar, marker on paper, 24x18
A couple years ago I started to add some templates to my collection, and added, and added, until now I have around 100 different stencil shapes. Each segment on each stencil can be separated and used to create a larger image.

This art piece was created with different stencil units brought together, so it's still abstract, but not geometric.
Face of Reflection, marker on paperboard, 9.5x6.5
Most of my art is hand-colored with fine marker, although I have experimented with oil and digital. For me, creating and coloring are about as zenful as it gets. How do I get inspired? If you're not familiar with this particular screensaver you've got to check it out, I know it may sound silly, but I absolutely LOVE Electric Sheep screensaver, I tend to 'zone out' while watching it and have tried to capture screenshots for reference. It's the most inspiring thing I have because just watching it turns my mind into motion. When it comes to template art, many times I will just look through my collection and, as if a gut response, choose different ones, they may or may not have a theme, but the end result is always cohesive.
I think that's all for now, I'll share the link for Electric Sheep here: https://electricsheep.org/
I have a personal website that can be visited here: http://www.virtualdzines.com
I thank you all for reading this and bear with me during this particular time of my life, I'm about to relocate after 12 years in the same place so it's a little crazy atm, but when I do make a post, I will make every effort to share something beneficial :) Stay groovy!
