Florian Hecker soundsculptures a soundprogramming artist (contemporary art)
With this post i present you a peace of a field of contemporary art which isnt well known for people who are not into art.
Most people are knowing sculptures, paintings and installations, but if it comes to sound-art the most are out. But it is indeed an interesting field.
Hello steemians
Today i present you the next artist. Florian Hecker is a known artist but mostly for art enthusiasts, because he's working in the field of soundexperiments, which is normaly hard to document for press or other only visual media.
Born in Augsburg Germany he grew up in Kissing Germany. Before he got into art he studied Computational Linguistics and Psycholinguistics at Ludwig Maximilian Universität, which take a lot influence on his work. In 2003 he made his diploma at the art academy of vienna.
In the meantime you can call him an upcoming artist. He even made an LP 2011 with Mark Leckey a Turner Price Holding artist.
In the LP he deconstructs the original work of Mark Lackeys "Smart Refridgerator". He mixed an older work of him "Chronicles", a 3 Channel installation(3 Speaker Tower, two in front one in the back),together with the voices of Mark Lackeys "Smart Refridgerator". In the following video you can listen to the stereo version.
Important for his work is the thinking of sound as a multichannel installation. So he works a lot with sonic sounds and a lot with the Supercollider. A developementtool and programming language, which is complitly focused on realtime soundsynthesis and algorythmic compositions.
Beside his installtions he presents live performances with well known soundartists like Aphex Twin and RussellHaswell.
Let me know your thoughts on sound-art and sound installation are you perhaps a fan? And at least let me know if you have critics on this post!
Cheers
Very interesting post! I've heard about Florian Hecker before, but had no specific works in mind. My son is also working "in the field of soundexperiments", so I might pass this over to him as well.
he is a really interesting artist! I listened the first time to him in moscow on the Geoemetry of Now Festival.
I will present in next posts again some sound artists.
Cool, looking forward to your future posts ;-)
