THE ART CARVED IN STONE
Last year in October I had an unloading in MANRESA in Spain. Fortunately for me the unloading was scheduled for Monday, while I arrived there already on Saturday morning. That meant I had the entire weekend ahead of me and plenty of free time. 😁
I managed to find a parking spot very close to the unloading location and at the same time not far from the center of MANRESA. I also had my bicycle with me, but since the city center was only about three kilometers away, I decided to go there on foot.
I must admit that I later regretted that decision a little. The walk turned out to be much more exhausting than I had initially expected. On top of that the weather was exceptionally sunny. Even though it was already October, summer in Spain was still in full swing and the temperature felt much more like the middle of summer than autumn.
MANRESA itself is not a large city. It has a population of around 75,000 people, which is only slightly more than the city where I currently live. However I must admit that for a relatively small city, it surprised me with both the number and the monumentality of its historic landmarks. There are several true architectural gems to be found here.
One of them is the SANCTUARY OF THE CAVE OF SAINT IGNATIUS, a place that made a huge impression on me from the very first sight. And it is photographs from this remarkable place that I would like to show you today.
