Asmongold Banned: Free Speech Clash on Twitch

in #asmongold12 hours ago

Twitch streamer Asmongold received a 7-day suspension on his secondary account zackrawrr starting April 6, 2026—his first ban in roughly 18 months. The suspension occurred mid-stream while he played Crimson Desert. Twitch cited “hateful conduct” after Asmongold said he doesn’t “give a fuck about the opinions of illiterate third worlders” during a discussion on U.S. foreign policy and Middle East issues. He did not apologize. Instead, he posted on X calling out a “blatant double standard” and later detailed the context in a YouTube video.

The incident has reignited debates over platform moderation. Personally, I support Asmongold and his right to free speech. I believe Twitch has been selectively targeting users and enforcing its terms of service based on a streamer’s political positions. The platform has never been truly neutral. It has often sided with the outrage machine and even defended controversial streamers in the past. For example, Twitch stood by certain e-girl creators until major news outlets began covering the scandals, which only highlights how untrustworthy their moderation can be. Regardless of what Asmongold said, it simply wasn’t severe enough to warrant a 7-day suspension.

The ban is set to end around April 13... However, I think if people out there support Asmongold, they should reconsider watching his content on Twitch. Twitch cannot be trusted.
