Banned by YouTube/Google Again

in #authority6 years ago (edited)

After my YouTube account was terminated a few weeks ago, I decided to try to get another, just so I could subscribe to some channels and know what they were releasing. I managed to a create new YouTube account based on a protonmail account, and logged in. Everything was fine.

But later that day, I clicked a YouTube link and found that I wasn't logged in anymore. When I tried to log in, I got the message:

"We've detected unusual activity on the account you're trying to access. To continue, please follow the instructions below."

I didn't watch any video. I just signed up. What "unusual activity" were they talking about? That I have the same IP as the account they terminated? Or that the Google account they terminated was still listed when I went to log in to a Google product? I think it was the former.

They wanted me to put in my phone number to validate me. So I did. I put in my phone number, and it was all just a trick it seems, just to verify that it was me who they had previously terminated. My second account has been terminated.

Now when I log in I have the same thing as my first terminated account:

"Unable to access a Google product."

I should have used a VPN. Fuck Google and YouTube. Bunch of assholes. I didn't upload anything. I didn't allegedly infringe on copyright or get accused of it by anyone. All they did was see that the new account was the same person who already has a terminated account.

I'm only using YouTube from Opera now via their built in VPN feature. So far I have not been terminated. I don't use the IP from the other two accounts, and I don't have any data on the browser linking me to my banned accounts.

This shit is really annoying. On my android phone, I can't even sign into YouTube, as it only uses one account for everything. My gmail account is the account they terminated my YouTube access with. So I'm stuck with no YouTube account on my phone.

This banning and censorship tyranny is really annoying. I have to use two browsers just to separate my YT terminated gmail account from my new YT account and not get terminated again. Where is the privacy of letting me get a new account and following the rules? Why do I have to be terminated right away just because my old account was? No second chances to use the previous Google product called YouTube? It's bullshit!

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

Sorry to hear of your hassles, @krnel
Say, have you seen this post from 4chan about "Consensus Cracking?"
ConsensusCracking.jpg

I've read one from a while back on that topic yes. Allegedly worked for and exposed who they socially engineer consent. Interesting indeed.

Indeed. While unconfirmed, having worked in silicon valley, it seems characteristic of the kind of hubris I encountered there. Here's another interesting find that partners well with the previous one:

Ironically I find the Stanford President John Hennessy the most important person in this round.

I didn't know you had a YouTube account I woulda checked out your content. That's lame to hear they're going to such lengths! Bizarre, how do they know who is behind your IP? It could be a brother or sister or someone else in the same household or location.

What did you get banned for originally if you don't mind me asking? I have a channel and I upload graphic content in terms of war footage and animal abuse to bring awareness to what's happening in the world and I have a feeling it's probably only a matter of time until I get deleted as well, unless I never get a big enough audience! But.. It is a concern. Sometimes I think I should separate my photography from my political movies, though.. I figured recently I should let them give me at least one flag first? They gotta warn me first don't they? Lol.. Man.. At least we have steemit and Dtube and other sites giving us an alternative even if not as popularly used. Would suck if there was no alternative at all!
Anyways.. I hope you can figure out some kind of solution! Good luck!

I don't know what I was banned for, they didn't tell me... I had a 1 minute clip of a 1984 BBC movie in B/W that they gave me a violations for years ago. But I never removed it. Maybe that was the multiple copyright violations...

Whoa.. That sounds really messed up and really suspect. I don't feel safe on YouTube anymore. And I wonder.. Even if I made a separate account to segregate my photography from my political opinions, they would still probably just ban both of my accounts sorta like they did with you! Ugh! Wtf.. I dunno. I think it's about time I give up hope of ever becoming a YouTuber, I'll likely end up banned if I ever start to get a big audience.

Use it but be ready for all your videos to be gone if you don't follow their rules exactly... :/

It's outraging that Facebook and Google are negotiating with the new imperialists of Asia to build like applications with direct "back holes" to the State.
Has Murdoch(Tube) made the same?
This is the actual state of democracy as a "self-cracy" for some that have enough money to pay.
And not even Europe is denouncing this transnational billion deals.
Centralization is Prison. :(

Yup, let's champion decentralized solutions

We should all stop using Youtube en-mass. Host your videos on your own website running on a VPS or dedicated server. There needs to be some way to reverse the effect of the network effect that Youtube has. That way we can decentralize the web again.

There should be some kind of peer-to-peer link sharing protocol. For example, you watch a video about bitshares on say d-tube.com and then you get links to videos on distinct sites but of the same subject.

Alternatives are better to have for ppl to move over. People won't get to hosting things on their own with bandwidth limitations and costs ;) Yup related videos is a good way to keep people looking at more videos on a platform. I don't think dtube does that yet, they just show other videos from the poster...

Come, come to this wonderful world of Dtube. Please, post there, make yourself at home. Look at YouTube like your ex who had herpes. You don't want to go back in there ... do you?! Start off clean and join us, in the Dtube heaven, where we ... I really making it sound like a cult don't I. We have cookies and cake with frosting.

Just forget about youtube and use Dtube. You can get used to it slowly. I just use YouTube on my phone and tablet now and because I loose a lot of battery with watching videos, I have to stop myself from using YouTube.

LOL, yes I've used it before. Just not the same amount of content for looking for info on though ;) Not really indexed in search engines when looking either ;)

Yeah, I know it is not the same. Less content, and everything is about crypto or just vlogs. Repetitive content and low quality. But here is the solution. As you can see, the good shows like cartoons and movie clips and all that good stuff isn't there, so that is a open market. We should just post more of that stuff there. I should post more of that stuff there.

But I do understand what you're saying, but if we don't feed Dtube, Dtube wont grow.

It reminded me got banned from google adsense, I just want to test the dashboard's responsiveness and clicked an ad from my phone and boom magic happened. I've tried to get in touch like 10 times for 5 years, just to let them know it was a test. I had no intention to gain $0.00001 :) NOPE they didn't care so do I, I just give up on google adsense never tried again. It would be just easy as signing up with my brother's phone. But I didn't, their loss, mhaha.
But yeah in your case it sucks, maybe there are some tools to follow channels without needing a yt account.

That sucks indeed. I have another account for now ;)

...the sooner we move off these platforms, and watch them die on the sword of their own ideology the better.

They won't survive if the left lose this war.(not without serious recalibration)

The underground can move, as the mainstream stays to feed them their profits. But in time the mainstream will shift too, but how much time...

...faster than I think it will... but not as fast as I hope...

It's a sad state of affairs currently when people can't even act freely! This is why we badly need decentralised solutions- to stop the silly censorship. Thanks for highlighting the unfair ban hammer of Youtube.

Luckily there are decentralized solutions popping up ;)

Take it as a compliment - it must mean you're a dangerous guy since they go to all the trouble to ban you!

Right? @Krnel is "over the target!"

Hehe, maybe ;)

If they don't want you, walk away from them with your dignity intact.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

Yup, I can do that indeed.
