No One Was Born Vile
I've been thinking lately about this verse:
Philippians 4:8 — think on whatever is true, honorable, pure, lovely.
And I can also see how easily something like this gets dismissed. A wrongdoer, someone influenced so negatively in this world that their inner life has become a black abyss letting no light in, might completely reject and throw out such a beautiful philosophy.
I use the word philosophy because I think of it as a way of life. The principles and guidelines a person lives by — I call that philosophy.
But what I really want to get at here is this:
No one was born vile.
Someone vile might completely dismiss Philippians 4:8. But they are still human. Still God's creation.
You don't need to be a neuroscientist, a doctor, a religious person, an atheist, or anything else. There is no label you can put on the simple fact that this person was born into the world pure.
No one was brought into this world vile. No baby was born saying "I hate the world" or "I'm born racist" or fill in the blank with any vile verbiage you prefer.
It is not someone's calling to be vile. It simply is not. That person has allowed such negative influences throughout their life that over time they accumulate into a black abyss that lets no light in.
I'm not leaving this blog on a happy ending or a bad ending to say what someone should or should not do. The purpose of this article is to bring awareness that no one was brought into the world vile. The vile path is purely a choice that someone made — it is not who they were born to become.
Because they were brought into this world pure and innocent.
Genesis 1:31 — God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
Matthew 18:3 — "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
Ezekiel 18:32 — "For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!"
2 Peter 3:9 — The Lord is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
