Hey guys so Iโ€™ve made a collage of photos from my sonโ€™s birth; from before, not during because thatโ€™s a bit strange ๐Ÿ˜‚ and after as we had a difficult 1st few weeks.

Alfie was making an arrival after my partner was having contractions at home for at least 12+ hours, I could see her tummy tightening up and she was having very minor pains which didnโ€™t worry her.

I was sure she was in labour, but she tried to put me at ease that she would be in more pain if she was in labour full blown ๐Ÿ˜‚ So I kept an eye on her and was timing the pains (could time them to a few seconds) we rang up the hospital and they said she sounds fine and went to sleep in the morning I made her go for a check up ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

They later found she had been in active labour and already 5-6cm ๐Ÿ˜ณ We was rushed upstairs to get her ready for surgery as she was have a C section.

I got all in my hospital scrubs and labelled me up ready to go into theatre, thatโ€™s me with the funny hat on ๐Ÿ˜‚

Skipping through the operation Alfie came out and was born, but he had breathed in some gunk and his lungs were damaged and collapsed.

He was rushed to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where he was looked after by a very talented and lovely team. These doctors and nurses were amazing they put us at ease and did everything and more to accommodate us on the section whilst they saved our sons life they were angels!

He went on oxygen, then on a ventilator, then off and onto another piece of apparatus to hold his lungs open to absorb oxygen. He then got jaundice and has to go under a UV light to help him break down his jaundice levels.

It was a very scary time for us and we were worried for Alfie and wasnโ€™t seeing our other son Spencer as he was staying at his grannyโ€™s whilst we were at the hospital so things were really hard.

We started to see a bit of a change Alfie was improving and came off the machines. He went into the nursery next door and was monitored for a few more days to see how his improvements were going. After the doctors werenโ€™t sure we asked them to trust our parents judgment as they wanted to raise his oxygen. They took him off and that was the longest 12 hours as after that he had a test to see his gas levels to see whether he needed to go back on the oxygen.

He didnโ€™t need to so we were one step closer to going home!!!

We got him all dressed and the next day we was allowed to go home so we got everything packed up and waited for the doctor from 7am when they werenโ€™t coming around until 10 we were so excited.

We left and went home! We met our other son at home who met his brother out of the incubator and off the machines for the 1st time.

All this was happening during the outbreak of Corona virus, so another scare and stress but we did it and now we have a healthy and happy little boy ๐Ÿ˜Š
