RIP Khaleda Zia

Khaleda Zia (15 August 1945 – 30 December 2025) was a prominent Bangladeshi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1991 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. She made history as the country’s first female prime minister and became the second woman to hold the office in the Muslim world, following Benazir Bhutto. She was married to Ziaur Rahman, a former president of Bangladesh and army chief. From 1984 onward, Khaleda Zia led the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which was established by her husband in 1978.
