Where there is a will there is a way. Steem is, however, not run by people (the ones with lots of money) who like to give people basic income or charity. It's more the opposite - they let you die in the rain even though you ask for help. My hope lies on Smart Media Tokens and if that doesn't work we will make a new blockchain with Universal Basic Income
I know there is at least one coin with the intent for a basic income http://www.grantcoin.org/
They only pay 8 dollar a month as far as I heard. We need something with 3-5 dollar a day to cover food and drinking.
C'est la vie. I think around $10k per year in the US would be good outside of places like CA or NYC where everyone wants to live. The developing world could be much lower. Hopefully a minimum income would help equalize labor rates and realize a more competitive world where absent transportation costs equally productive work is paid equally.
I have been thinking about a possible solution with SMTs that may be able to fund a voluntarily financed guaranteed minimum income. If i finish a white paper or make a tangible document, would love to send it your way. Hopefully we will be free someday and all be able to make their lives into what they choose for themselves.
