Sunny and warm, but not yet too hot in Da Nang, Vietnam
The beach season is in full swing as the level of tourists start to rise to what I consider to be rather crazy levels at this time of year. Upon walking down there yesterday to get an up close look at the scene I can understand why so many people are here.
Danang is known for its beaches but it also known for being extremely hot and humid once the full summer kicks in. Therefore this is the time of year when the beach is probably the best.

There is stil plenty of open space to sit down if you want to and I guess this is because in much of the world the kids are still in school and therefore the parents can't yet travel. Or so it would appear. The temperature with no clouds is about 27 degrees C in the middle of the afternoon and to me anyway, this is a very do-able temperature. It helps that we have a nice offshore wind coming in as well.

Parasailing is popular around the world and this is something that I would normally complain about because I believe it kind of destroys the ambiance for the people who don't want motorboat and jetski noise being a part of their day. Thankfully, the beach here has pretty strict rules about where these boats can launch from and where they can go back and forth so unless you sit down in these areas, where you aren't even allowed to swim ayway, it isn't that big of a problem.

It does seem to be really safe as well. I would not pay to do this but it was nice to see that there is a team of 2 people handling safety on the beach, two jetski accomplices and of course the speedboat that is pulling the thing. Not long ago a type of parachute activity that I don't know what the name is but it involves launching off the top of the nearby mountain and landing on the beach, had a fatality so the answer to that was to completely shut the operation down. I don't know if I agree with this outcome but I don't make the rules here.

During certain times of day you can walk for ages and certain portions of the sand are better than others. For me, I like the sand that has been compacted by a receding tide so that it is relatively flat and also cool. The loose sand part of the beach is most of it, but this is quite difficult to walk in. I'm sure you know what I mean.
We have maybe a month or two before the wind dies down and the heat gets to be what I consider unbearable but for now going on walks on the beach is something I quite enjoy doing. We all need a bit of exercise and they keep saying that sunshine is good for you because of vitamin D or something like that. I always limit my sun exposure to around 40 minutes or so because sun cream makes me feel too hot. So far this strategy has worked.
I have 2 seasons here in Danang that I like, the winter which is rainy and cool and also the spring. We are in the middle of the second part right now and it follows the same weather patterns that anywhere else in the world that has 4 seasons also follows.
I rarely get into the water outside of it flowing over my feet every now and then because I don't trust the cleanliness of the water and also because you can only swim in certain areas. I guess this is a good idea for people that can't swim very well because unlike other places that I have been in the world, all the swimming areas really are monitored by lifeguards here and that is probably why almost zero people ever drown here.
Enjoy the good weather while you can! it is going to get to be as hot as can be in a month or so.
