The Patience of a Bear
Onyx, our neighborhood Pennsylvania Black Bear waiting patiently for me to attach the bird feeder to the pole. Little does she realize that as long as she is there that's not going to happen. :]
After waiting for 10 minutes she got up and went into the woods. That's when I attached the bird feeder and she came back out to get a snack of bird seed and nuts. I was impressed with how gently she pulled the feeder toward her so she could lick the seeds and nuts.
But alas all good things come to an end. She normally leaves some for the birds but, today she must have been really hungry. So when she finished and saw me on the deck she looked my way and grunted with disappointment. It was not a growl of anger, just a grunt. She has good manners that way.
But she must have been having a bad day because she took out her disappointment on the Bird Feeder.
Going to Dictionary.com I looked up the definition of patience:
The quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
An ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay.
Quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care.
So Onyx met number 2 but didn't do so well with number 1 and 3
This earned her the new title of Grumpy Bear.
