Crab Spider (Thomisidae)

in Beauty of Creativity5 days ago

I had no idea whether it was able to bite or was harmless. All I needed to do was to take pictures while it was there. Crab spiders (Thomisidae) are a family of spiders (order Araneida) that are crablike in shape. Unlike many crabs, which often walk sideways or backward, this typical spider even walks toward me, disturbing my focus. I did not give up on it; I tried to take a good chance to capture it while it was there. Crab spiders don’t spin webs to trap insects, but they ambush their prey, often lying in wait on foliage for unsuspecting bees, moths, and other insects that come to feed on flowers. It resided in the shady spot and was active when noticing the strangers. It moved here and there seeking a safe place. This typical spider is found throughout Asian tropical rainforests, in foliage in wooded environments. Seeing that, I managed to get a few pictures soon I noticed it was calm. It's great to see its appearance from the closest range, even I was not able to see their eyes as they were covered in its shell.
