🍻Mazzle Delivers Steem Shirts in Person and Reviews Beer! 🍻
Steem Shirts and Beer in Adelaide!
I ran a "design an Aussie Steem Shirt" competition for my online store @steemitshopaustralia a few weeks ago and finally got the winning shirt printed last week. Since I was visiting Adelaide, where the winning shirt designer @nossy lives, I figured I might as well deliver the shirt in person!
Even better, @nigerhill (another Adelaidian) had also placed an order recently. So I was able to swing past his and deliver his shirts at the same time. There's nothing like hand delivering your products!
And of course, being interstate for the weekend, I have to try some new beers. So after delivering the shirts I headed off to a new brewery that I had only recently heard of.
Shifty Lizard Brewery!
I'd only recently heard about this brewery, and didn't realise how new they are. They've only been operating about 18 months. But are already making some great beers.
I was able to grab a few take aways from here after doing some small tastings. It was late and I had a long drive to my parents place, so there would be no sitting and chatting with the bar tender tonight.
I went home with their pale ale, red ale, IPA and stout. This is actually their full range of beers. They also only brew in small batches which gave me reasonably high expectations about the quality of their beers. It's late, and I'm dog tired. So below is a small write up of each beer.
Pale Ale
This came across as an American Pale Ale, it was quite fruity on the nose with lots of citrus and tropical fruits. The fruit on the palate was mild. And it was also quite hoppy with a mild bitterness. This is a highly drinkable Pale Ale and I would definitely head back for more.
Interestingly, this beer is contract brewed rather than brewed at their premises. This hasn't appeared to diminish the quality though.
Hoppy Irish Red Ale
I was extremely happy with this Red Ale. It's big and bold, malty and not at all bitter. It has a fantastic complexity about it which made it quite possibly the best red ale that I've ever had.
IPA
This is a pretty traditional IPA which was nice and fruity, very hoppy and had a lovely bitterness. It's very aromatic as you'd expect and highly drinkable as well. It's not the best IPA that I've had but very good at the same time. I'd have no issues recommending this IPA to anyone.
Stouty Mc Stout Face
Of all the beers, this was the one I was most eager to try, and partly because of the name. It was quite sad to discover that this is a very weak Stout at 5.5% which also brought with it weak flavours and little complexity. I'm a bit annoyed at this to be honest. I was looking forward to a nice and meaty stout.
Overall Assessment
I'm pretty happy with this brewery overall, they do a fantastic Red Ale and their IPA and Pale Ale appear to be very solid beers. It's just a shame about that Stout...

I was happy to meet another Steemit user. I met @mattlcarke the next day too. He's the guy you need to talk to about the meet ups.
Last Thursday of each month, at the Jade. Corner of Flinders and Pulteney, from 6pm.
We'll be inside for the next few months. Looking like a cracking turnout on the 31st, with lots of new faces in the mix :)
I want one! lol
Order one from my store then. :P
Link? Your vlog was pretty good.
Thanks. :)
Click the link right at the bottom of my post.
Wow international shipping is expensive! lol Are you visiting the USA anytime soon? ;)
Haha. I would be posting from Australia. There’s a large ocean between us. :)
I'll have to remember the Hoppy Irish Red.
They're not far from me. @nossy, always great to meet another mallsballer, mate.
Monthly meetups on the last Thursday of each month at the Jade, on Pulteney and Flinders from 6pm.
Be fantastic to see you there :)
@mazzle, Nigel is @lordnigel.
I couldn’t remember his username so guessed. :)
I'm not a big fan of IPA... I prefer blonde fruity Corona style beers.
Hey, I want a steemit t-shirt too, but I am not Aussie. WTF is this patriotic thing?
NO NO NO. You should make a new contest and make an international one! Then, come all the way to Cambodia to deliver it to me.
:)
(I'm just provoking)
I've become a little obsessed with IPAs. I like a good American Pale as well though.
I'd love to visit Cambodia. Give me free accommodation and I'll bring you a couple of shirts. :P
Really! Accomodations are the cheapest things in Cambodia! You can sleep for 3 to 7$ anywhere.
Haha that is cheap :)
I'll let you know when I'm heading your way.
A multi-purpose visit.... It's the way to go. The shirts look great! And 3 out of 4 on the beers isn't a bad day out. Nice reading. Cheers, Dude!
Thanks mate! I was pretty happy with Shifty Lizard. I have a couple of beers left to drink over the next few days as well. :)
You have an online store!!! Thats awesome.
Well done on the upvotes also, got any tips?
I do. :)
As far as tips are concerned, get involved with Team Australia and sign up for "Centrelink". There are tips on the Team Australia member update posts under @teamaustralia. From there you'll get yourself included on the Centrelink curation trail which means many of the Aussie Steemit users will auto-upvote your posts.
Then get involved with DTube and start uploading videos. Watch some of the videos by the popular users and you'll see how the guys create good quality and interesting videos. A series of tutorial videos about filming with drones would be awesome, and would definitely get a lot of attention.
There's also an awesome fitness community on DTube. So with your body building, you could create fitness related content and will no doubt get some good attention that way.
I'm currently included on 2 curation trails, the TA one and a DTube curation trail. It means that my posts get auto upvoted by around 60 or so Steemit accounts. It's a huge help and means that I know each post will earn a minimum amount. If I start posting crap I'm sure I'd get dropped off these trails though.
