Berkutchi hunters' traditions and culture are strongly related to the environment and ecology of Mongolia's steppes. These people have learned to rely solely on their talents, expertise, and courage in the face of hot summers and freezing, windy winters. Little has changed in the lives of nomadic peoples since the arrival of civilisation.
The two major activities that govern their lives and purpose of existence are traditional fox and hare hunting with tamed birds of prey and the maintenance of the herd that provides food and livelihood. Hunting is ingrained in children's minds from an early age, regardless of gender.
The yearly fall festivities hosted in various Mongolian cities provide a glimpse of the historic Mongolian hunter-nomad lifestyle.

We've attended similar events before, but we won't be inviting you to this one. The overwhelming number of visitors, as well as the crowds of locals and tourists, left an unfavourable impression on us. You will have time to interact with the festival participants for two or three days, since they are usually in a rush and surrounded by a mob of bystanders, and hence not very communicative. However, at such a celebration, making a broader impact, packed with life tales, customs, and idiosyncrasies of living, will not be possible.
