Crypto Ocean ๐ Secret Tokens of the Deep Sea 1 ๐ฎ
Dear Steemit friends,
out there are many lesser known projects with small caps (market capitalization) which sunk like sea anchors after the Altcoin crash together with Bitcoin. These Altcoins look still relatively weak compared to the rebound of BTC. I wanna dive with my submarine to look for such possible treasures.
Today's pick is Flixxo

Flixxo is a decentralized video platform which is based on well known Bittorrent which has currently already 250 million users worldwide. Before we dig deeper a quick look at coinmarketcap.com
Rank 435, market cap is quite low with about $13 million and a circulation of about 75 million FLIXX token.
The bigger picture since ICO in Oktober 2017 shows a weakness compared to Bitcoin. You can see the spreading scissor at the end of the chart. But let's look short term after the big correction..
FLIXX seems to take off compared to Bitcoin in the last few days. That could mean nothing because of the high volatility in this small cap token and the more positive market sentiment. But let's look to the fundamentals, what could make this project valuable? First i show a overview which i got from a Telegram user
Contenders in mind
First look is amazing compared to the contenders. We know DTube is a wonderful integration for Steemit and i think it's not quite fair to put it in this overview because it's like a small piece in the bigger picture of Steemit together with DSound, utopian.io and others which works quite well. LBRY is explained in the following short
LBRY compares itself to IPFS and Bittorrent and claims to be better in the following points:
- catalogue function to see available content
- real namespaces
- monetization function
- market incentives for content
To put this in context i think of Steemit-DTube-IPFS and Flixxo-Bittorrent. With this in mind 1., 3., 4. are instantly obsolete because the platforms integrated just the base technologies and provide the other things by itself. Number 2 i don't know.
The tech behind
The Flixxo team has a lot of experience with Bittorrent. This technology is well known for illegal downloads of movies, games, generally big filesizes. But the CEO Adriรกn Garelik emphasizes that's not the point.. the point is, it works now for many years worldwide, decentralized. The creator of Poporn Time Federico Abad is the expert behind and the intention of Flixxo is to use the same technology.

Future plans and milestones
The roadmap shows a Beta in march and a major event the functional platform in June and they plan to whitelabel their technology to others which would make them to a infrastructural play which is much more interesting than just a dApp.

What i like
- strong leadership with Adriรกn Garelik
- strong tech with Federico Abad for Bittorrent
- partner network (s. below)
- decentralized proven technology
- very small market cap - lot potential
Where could be caveats?
- Youtube domination
- bad image of Bittorrent
- working mechanics of the token economic incentivized system
To overcome the domination it needs incentives to move popular Youtubers to the new platform. Adriรกn Garelik makes this clear in a few statements. That's a similar approach with Steemit and DTube where people recognize how valuable their content could be, valued by the community NOT by unfair algorithms or central authorities.

A viewer on YouTube gets paid nothing, and shows their support for the author with likes. On flixxo they get paid tokens, and show their support to the author with tokens, who in turn repays the viewers with tokens too. It's a great concept, very interesting.
Thank you for the summary of incentives. Youtube went nuts recently.. therefore it's necessary to show people especially content creators such opportunities.

i feel youtube doesnt know the worth of quaility creators @onetin84
i think they know exactly how valuable the content is for them but as long people give their good content for free they feel right in their decisions.. but times are changing.. also Youtube will look for other solutions. That's the beauty of competition in the market.
but if a mistake is being done by them which in most of the cases they do is suspend the channel without any prior notice.. this is the major loophole i feel in the youtube system i wish some competitor competes with youtube in order to get best ...
also if a channel is suspended i dont feel they have a proper system to reply and review the channel on an emergency
the creator has to wait for the next youtube reply which is completly unexpected @onetin84
currently you can monetize on DTube! and maybe Flixxo is another option in the near future to get paid for your content.
