Skeleton of a Dried Frog Who Recently Met His Demise

in #biology7 years ago (edited)

Good morning, Steemians!

Yesterday morning I walked out into the lanai and saw a dead frog who apparently was trapped inside trying to get out.

Because they are amphibians, frogs need moisture. He must've been inside the lanai, on the tile for at least a day, unnoticed, because he dried out and the ants got to him.

It's incredible how intelligent ants are: they smell the rotting flesh of an animal and immediately band together to eat and eat and eat until it's gone. Very soon there will be nothing left but the skeleton.

Thanks for stopping by!

It kinda looks like a heart the rim made out of ants and the middle out of the remains, but its cool. Also liked and followed
