Flamingo at the Inn River
Flamingos usually don't go so much north and the northernmost parts of Europe they visit is usually the Lagoon of Venice in Italy. So evenmore I was happy that I was able to take some pictures of it here in Upper Austria at the Inn River. One day we had exceptional luck and it came pretty close during it's food searching on the river ground. It was wading only a few meters infront of us and we could quietly take some really nice closeup pictures of this bird.
It was a really nice experience watching this bird so close and taking pictures of it. I already saw some of the flamingos in Florida where they usually live but this is my first flamingo in the wildlife in Europe. There should be some spots in south Italy and Spain where they can be seen in Europe but I never have. Because of it's vivid colors it probably could find enough food in form of different crustacean that give the red color to the flamingo feathers.
