Downy Woodpecker on a Tree

When I see a bird like this that I don't encounter very often, it is immediately exciting. Especially when I can find it in one spot pecking away at a tree like this downy woodpecker. Like when one of your favorite special guest stars shows up on a TV series, it is always a treat to watch these birds work. It made its way around the tree and found various spots to peck away at. I had plenty of opportunity to catch this bird from multiple angles, and this was a very satisfying day.
