The lesser spotted woodpecker (Dryobates minor)
This little buddy sat quietly in the low bushes. I noticed him, and at first could not understand why he was sitting still. Usually these woodpeckers are quite energetic and restless.
But as soon as I took a closer look, I saw that his plumage was different from adult birds.
It was a young chick. He sometimes flapped his wings and gave a voice so that his parents would not lose him. And by the way, his parents, or rather his mother, heard him and precisely found him. After feeding the child, she again flew off to hunt in search of food. And then back again.
Alas, except for the two of them, I no longer noticed anyone. Most likely it was the only surviving chick. Yes, the mortality of chicks in the wild is quite high, many birds of prey eat eggs and chicks. Well, maybe the father of the family fed the other chicks somewhere else. But alas, I did not find anyone else near.
