In reality... If we compare 2017 with 2018, now... There are more crypto exchanges including many gas stations in Austria, peripheral towns in Serbia and Pristina for example. There are more dApps, more products. The only thing lacking is - the hype. There is no hype because the is not enough "brave money" because the overall situation is not that good.

Once the money becomes brave again - there will growth again.
For crypto, it's only important to survive. Just don't buy obscure coins, I think it will be fine.
