3 Things For Bitcoin Mass Adoption From Coinbase CEO

I read over an article today about the Coinbase CEO naming 3 things crypto needs for mass adoption. In this post I am going to go over them and voice my own opinions on this as well.

1 - Volatility

With strong swings and quickly the CEO says volatility is a real issue to mass adoption.

However to me this is old news. The stock market swings just as much and is only traded for 6-7 hours a day 5 days a week. While bitcoin is traded 24 hours a day 7 days a week I honestly don't think you can compare the two. They are totally different beasts and there is tons of money to be made in bitcoin for the long haul. Which most money bag investors would jump all over.

2 - Scalability

This one I can agree with. Bitcoin itself does not need to really scale what needs to scale are the systems around it. Bitcoin has always wanted to be a store of value and having slower blocks and limited amount of transactions per block is not really a bad thing. It actually makes it worth more and makes people think of innovative alternative means for smaller transfers.

The other thing is we know bitcoin is not broken its stood for years without issues and going in and messing with the block could lead to some scary things happening.

3 - Usability

I feel like this bleeds into the Scalability where it is outside systems such as lightning network or even litecoin that is used for smaller types of transactions while bitcoin remains there for the larger with a secure system and a bit of a higher fee.

What also needs to happen is day to day activities should be used in bitcoin. Paying for lunch, getting a coffee or tipping someone should be easy to setup and easy to use.

So what are your thoughts on these three things?

I think the big one missing is interface as it could solve the issue of people not relating crypto to money. If digital payment continue to expand (thanks to Apple and their card now), more users will start to adopt these types of payment systems without considering the asset behind it.
