Tron founder Justin Sun announced that he had bought BitTorrent, a leading file-sharing platform, and announced how much it was being paid for: $ 140 million. Was it worth it?

  • BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol that allows users across the world to easily download large files. As users download a file, they start sharing with others, and at the same time they empower networks reliably and subtly.
  • The BitTorrent desktop application was released on the scene in 2001, and quickly became famous for its use as a pirate video and music downloading tool. Over the years, BitTorrent Inc. has struggled with shutdowns related to the site naturally promoting illegal material or helping users find it, and argued that it only provides a way to download files.

So, why did Tron Acquired Bittorent?

  • BitTorrent claims that the monthly user base is 170 million. This means that users will hear the name of the Tron in any way.
  • Regarding how Tron can use BitTorrent, Tech Crunch says that he's got a few interesting tips from a BitTorrent shareholder:
  • First, it will be used to justify Tron's work in some of the controversies: for example, the use of FileCoin and Ethereum in the development of its technology.
  • The second is to use BitTorrent's P2P architecture and wide user network as a potential network that can help with token processing.
  • With Sun's acquisition of BitTorrent, we can easily say that the Tron will be aware of and be noticed in the mainstream media.
  • Another use case for BitTorrent is to distribute files on the Tron network.
