Why BTC has seen a Dip
Buying into crypto, you've probably heard the terms "HODL" (Hold On for Dear Life), and "Buy the Dip" (Buy currency when you see a decrease in price). If you've bought BTC, and are worrying because of the money you've lost from the price going down, I honestly suggest actually buying more BTC. There are a few reasons bitcoin has gone down to $11.4k, and a few, I'll state:
• South Korea situation
◦ South Korean officials have been considering shutting down ALL cryptocurrency exchanges, and have issued raids on two popular exchange platforms for tax evasion; Bithumb, and Coinone. The effect this has on the market is that it would cause South Korean bitcoin holders to panic sell, reducing the price of bitcoin overall.
• Indonesia situation
◦ Indonesian authorities have started an investigation on the effects of bitcoin on the indonesian economy. The Indonesian Central Bank has issued a ban in the use of payment-systems. The Central Bank has noted that there isn't any regulations on crypto trading, and said that they were looking into the issue, foreshadowing a ban or attempted ban on trading.
These are the updated situations that are causing bitcoin to fall, but since cryptocurrency is all about avoiding "the man", it is near to impossible to completely ban. I expect bitcoin to rise in the upcoming weeks, when the news dies down about the bans, but for now... HODL.
