John McAfee vs. Enigma twitter scandal

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

The constant battle between John McAfee and potential coin marketers using photoshop and video editing software.

Hey everyone, it's almost 3 AM here in Canada on Christmas Eve so nothing too long and informative right now. For now, just wanted to lay out the facts:

In response to the "Fake McAfee twitter account argument"... Notice that the twitter account provided in the video and photos have the blue twitter account verification check mark beside the McAfee twitter name however, that can always easily be edited and changed. Quite the world we live in, photos can easily be photoshopped and videos easily edited as shown below .

One final note I am sorry about the quick article but it is 3 AM on Christmas Eve. I am just trying to help out the community, check out the twitter accounts I provided for the videos and photos from this story. I hope it helps you and the entire crypto space in some way to think for yourselves when investing in the future.

*Edit: The account has both photo and video's with the twitter blue checkmark on all of the information provided however, like I stated that can easily be edited. I am not taking sides just stating the facts and would love to hear your opinions below. I have linked all of the photos and videos from the second party below in the article.

This whole situation just seems very fishy to me. I just wanted to state the facts for the crypto community in order to aid them in future investment choices, regardless of who is right and who is wrong. What do you think? Comment below and share your opinion, I am open to discussion for both sides.

Here are the videos and photos from the second party:

Edit 3: After researching more information I realized that "Twitter bots" have also been linked to McAfee tweets, something to keep in mind for the future:

Thanks for awareness

it's all about money :)

It's about the bigger picture and witnessing a change for the better in this world

That was exactly my first though when I saw McAfee tweeting a coin every day, many of those being quite mediocre projects.
But also notice that faking a twitter conversation is as easy as opening the browser inspector and typing whatever you want others to say.
In any case, always review the projects by your self, invest on long term quality projects and never follow blindly anyone. Peace!

That's exactly what I thought as well. It wasn't until further evidence was provided that I was willing to write an article on the situation.

I agree the that Twitter conversations can be faked very easily, however, if you go to the twitter page he has 2-3 videos trying to prove his case vs McCafe who has very little credibility. The account has both photo and video evidence with the twitter blue checkmark on all of the information provided. This makes it very hard to believe that this was a "fake account" as the fake account is not verified by twitter while the real McCafe is. This whole situation just seems very fishy to me and I just wanted to state the facts for the crypto community in order to aid them in future investment choices regardless of who is right and who is wrong.

Lastly, your final advice is a solid motive that I stand by thank you!

In any case, filming a photoshop doesn't prove it's not a photoshop. It makes no sense for John to do this, there's zero motive that makes sense.

Interesting that so many are so quick to treat John as guilty until proven innocent, very similar to those who dont know the difference between a coin they don't like and don't want to to do well and a coin that actually isn't going to do well.

People like Jamie Dimon is this way on Bitcoin, just like all those people saying Ripple will never get to $1 because "it's impossible" because they hate Ripple were proved wrong and all it took was 3 days, and where are they now? Oh could never get to $5 it could never get to $10. That's impossible. Or Doge, where I was told over and over that it would never and could never anywhere near 100 sats mere days before it took off from 18 and is now nearly 80 sats. Again, what they mean, is they dont WANT it to reach those figures.

This is what happens when you allow your feelings to be confused with facts. When you're this biased it means you wouldn't even be right EVEN IF John really doing dodgy stuff, just as you wouldn't be right if Ripple couldn't get to $1. Why? For the same reason if you win the lottery you weren't "right" when you decided to pick those numbers, you didn't "know" those numbers were going to come up and the worst thing a gambler can have is the belief that they have a some mystical or illogical system and then experience a win or two. Sometimes winning is the worst thing that can happen to you and that's much more likely when you set yourself to be wrong.

Everytime Ripple went down they'd say SEE I TOLD YOU, and look where it is. Everytime Bitcoin goes down they say SEE LOOK BITCOIN IS FAILING and then they ignore every time it goes up.Everything that appears to accord with your bias becomes further support you'll think you're right, and everything that doesn't is ignored.

If you are biased to seeing the glass half empty or half full you are effectively blind.

With this McAfee thing you have already proven you're blind, because even if McAfee is doing this for some reason, you were willing to believe it with next to no evidence without logic. You also are willing to believe it against the evidence part of which is the lack of comprehensible motive you ignored as well as ignoring the fact that there is various comprehensible motives to fake it. Even if someone is guilty, it doesn't make you right to have not treated the accusations with skepticism and reason. When you treat someone as guilty before proven innocent you're not validated if they turn out to be guilty. If you believe something based on no evidence you cant retroactively validate belief in it when you had no evidence.

To be fair to @officialmcafee & @RobinSchmid11 - anyone with basic HTML knowledge can fake conversations (watch the video and you can see). Just be careful where you get your crypto news. Always invest in researched coins and avoid pump and dump schemes. Who knows anything these days.

Oh for sure! When I said photoshop I didn't mean they couldn't use other methods just that filming a screen with your photoshp/fake website etc doesn't make it less fake.

Very well put, I just wanted to state the information and let the community know. Thank you for posting that video @thesoulharmonic

Great article, thanks for the heads up and I love the anecdote about the bots. Instant karma.

More and more fake news, fake articles and fake twitter,FB accounts. The best way is to avoid and concentrate on what we can perform.

great point and well said, I couldnt agree more

Man if it is hard enough to figure out is someone is lying or not now we need to figure out if the person typing it is actually the person we thought he or she is. I thought technology was suppose to make my life simpler. My head is hurting.

That's a great assessment I feel the same way sometimes.

Wonder when he will 'shill' Bitconnect as a 'good coin'.

hahaha that would be classic

John McAfee thinks ”Enigma“ is a Good coin and want to promote it for 25Btc and 15% but I save my bitcoins for Enig… twitter.com/i/web/status/9…

Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.

Wow, interesting. I was wondering if he was asking for a fee to promote coins.

Just thought I'd share this information with the community is all :)
