#1.0 - How going "Deep" made me a HODL'er

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

My third and first "real" post in my 'story' needs to be prefaced with a small confession.

My hatred for banks was, strictly speaking, not the ONLY reason I originally got into Bitcoin...
In fact - initially - the ideological basis had very little to do, with my introduction to, and adoption of Bitcoin at all.

And even though my hatred for centralized banking is the main reason for my belief in Bitcoin, and the reason I'm still heavily invested in it today, it was not my initial motivation behind getting in at first - the so called Deep Web was.

In 2012, I was faced with a sudden, unexpected reason to explore certain DeepWeb markets.
I won't mention the name of the specific market I ended up using, but if you're reading this, I imagine you wouldn't really need me to. ;)

As I very quickly realized - if I wanted to use this market, I would need to get at considerable amount of Bitcoin, given the price at the time. So after a few sceptical onboarding sessions, on very basic P2P escrow sites and very "weird" OTC trades... I finally got my hands on all the bitcoin I needed.

But as it sometimes go with Bitcoin, in the time it had taken me to aquire all the Bitcoin I needed, the price had gone up - and over time, the amount of coins, that I had originally calculated with, now exceeded the necessary amount - by a fair amount.

So after purchasing what I had needed on the market, I looked at the remaining coins and remember thinking... "This might actually be something really, really special"; so I stashed the remaining coins on a few paper wallets, and stuck them in the back of my safe and back-up locations.

From there on out, whenever I needed to use Bitcoin, I would buy it at spot and spend it immediately, to avoid to much volatilaty in the market - and usually, to be honest, I always bought a little bit more than I needed from that point as well. ;D

But THAT is the actual story behind how I aquired my first bag of Bitcoins, and to this day, I have rarely touched it at all.

To be continued...

Brevity is the soul of wit - and longewity the soul of the contemplative!

It is very clear that this Secular trend is truly only just beginning (and I have been following since 2012) and this is simply the patient beginning and continuing to essentially steal money from the impatient

I'm not quite sure how to interpret "Secular" in that context - do you mean in relation to crypto, and if so as a good or a bad thing?

Crypto is still in early stages/mid stages of a secular shift towards the technology. This is a bull market that will continue to accelerte and go exponential IMO

100% agreed - until we peak and find the more stable market value, if there is one in traditional measures... The word secular just rubs me the wrong way, since it implies a smigdeon of religion... ;P

Deepweb = open market = reason to hate bank...
It's al the same ;)

Well... not quite, but I see your point ;)

Thanks for the upvote :)

Il send you some good videos on banking and the economy that I watched recently. I was shocked. The deeper we go down the rabbit hole the worse it gets

Yea, it's a neverending spiral of debt and viciousness - the reverse Robin Hood scheme... :(

Sometimes the only thing that seems to make sense right now, is betting on Crypto and shorting everything else :/

But at least this time we have crypto! :)

we do have crypto and the early adopters are ahead of the banks for the first time in a very longgggg time. Maybe ever lol

Like Andreas recently said...
"They don't stand a chance" ;D
