Also make sure that you keep your backups safe.
There are two risks associated with backups:

• losing your backup so you can't access it anymore
  (don't keep it in same location, think about your house/office burning to the ground)
• allowing others to access your backup
  (it need to be secured at least at the same level as your original data)
