Here is how I interpret the charts in Haejin's posts: the btc and $ charts are completely independent of one another; the timeframes shown on the charts should not be taken literally (Haejin often says time is difficult to predict; and you should assume that these patterns will play out across different timeframes.
Having said that, I have seen the opinion written frequently that the btc futures markets will result in reduced bitcoin volatility as these markets have for other assets upon introduction. I wonder whether this could push money into late as speculators chase volatility for outsized returns.
