There is this website that claims to take the risk away from investing in bitcoin, you can find more details here. So far it appears to be living up to its promise but the real test will be only when there is a sustained bearish trend in bitcoin prices. In my opinion you are better off with a simple buy and hold strategy. And of course it is better to avoid trying to time the market, a simple  Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) technique is generally the best way to go. I learn this lesson the hard way quite recently :-(
