The Crown Governor in Sweden will auction off bitcoin

The Crown Governor, Sweden's variant of the bailiff, is to sell bitcoin for the second time, the first time being in October 2017 when 0.6 bitcoin was sold well above market price. This is stated in a press release on Thursday morning.

This time, there is 4.59 bitcoin worth around SEK 370,000 to be auctioned off. The cryptocurrency is collected in connection with an ongoing collection.

• Many ask why we auction off the currency and do not exchange it ourselves. The answer is that there is no infrastructure for what meets our requirements. We need to do it in a quality-assured way to know that money is not going to go down the road, ”says Johannes Paulson, business developer at Kronofogden in a statement.

Paulson says that since the cryptocurrency is anonymous, it has been used for illegal activities such as money laundering and other illegal activities.

"That we find and take out bitcoin is therefore an important part of our efforts to complicate and counter organized crime," says Paulson.

The online auction starts tomorrow Friday, according to The Crown Governor.
