Ever since I was a kid I have loved saving my change, I always had some sort of giant see through piggy bank, that I would pile it into for a few years before I would cash it in. It has always been a way for me to save a little money to so something fun, or break in case of emergency like trying to bail your friend out of jail. The problem is, the money just sits there, it isn’t doing anything for you, and only losing value to due inflation. I started to think this way about all my little bits of saving after I got into crypto trading towards the end of 2017. Fairly quickly all the savings I had were put to work, except my precious coin jar, and thats what I am going to document now.
Can you guess how much it is?
$156 USD
I decided to HODL the pennies as I read the US mint stopped producing them in 2017.
So what did I do with my new found wealth? Bought the bitcoin dip of course!
I am not the proud owner of almost 2% of a bitcoin! But Ugh, that $5.99 coinbase fee is brutal. I recomend you follow Zachary’s post about purchasing bitcoin fee free. https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@zacharylutes/how-to-avoid-coinbase-gdax-fees
I planned to do this, but have been having issues verifying my account on Gdax.
So, whats next? Transfering the money to an exchange. I did a few transfers before, all with Litecoin, they went fairly quick, with super small fees. I decided to give it a go with Bitcoin this time, as I heard the fees went down, and transactions have been quicker. Lets start the timer...
While I’m waiting time to do some window shopping.
I have been eyeing up Ethereum Classic for a few weeks now, there is a 1:1 airdrop for all ETC holders on March 5th for a new side chain named Callisto. Within the last day its had a nice little run up accompanied by high volume. So I decided all in on ETC it is. Now just gotta wait for my bitcoin to arrive.....
It has arrived! (Thats minutes, not hours) And now time to document the second trade, the first being from USD to BTC.
I Am now the proud ownder of 6.84535367 Ethereum Classic.
Lets hope the bulls can keep up the momentum, and we get some exchange support for the Callistos airdrop, and I think we will see some nice gains in the coming weeks. As the portfolio grows I plan to branch out in a few directions with it, finding some longterm holds, giving it a go at some day trading, and investing in ICOs.
In the next installment I will make a list of resources that really got me off my feet in the crypto world, but for now do yourself a favor and check out Crytpo Coin Trader group on Facebook.
