Bittrex: Is it Time for a Class Action Suit?
What can we do? They commit larceny and hide behind a verification scheme. I tried to get in contact with their supposed provider and the contact form didn't work. It looks like it might actually be a technical problem. I can buy and sell but I cannot withdraw.
My proposal is to get a lawyer team to start legal action. Sometimes it is enough to send a letter to remind them of the law. Can we all contribute to this effort? Someone with big pockets?
It seems to me one shouldn't give in to the demands for verification and should instead file a law-suit against them. Please contribute to a legal Action fund against Bittrex.
I wish to setup a multi-signature account with a few high reputation members. Reply below if you are interested.
Together it might be millions of dollars stolen withheld in accounts on Bittrex.

I've been waiting to hear back from Bittrex for a month now. My money is locked away. I tried to verify for a basic level account to withdraw, and their "system" said my name was not found in the "public record."
I then went as far as uploading my passport and photo, and was notified that my name "doesn't match the name on my document."
Haven't heard anything from customer support except that they received my ticket, and I should stop making new ones.
It is really laughable that such horrible customer service/support flies. Thanks for posting this. I've basically said goodbye to that cash I have in there for now.

Thanks a lot for the resteem. I guess I should keep the money I earn on Steemit in Steem Power, Steem and Steem backed dollars. There are hundreds of people who have this problem. I don't know how much it would cost, but certainly a pool of some users who are equally as indignant for what Bittrex is doing we could have a chance of convincing them to release our funds.
Can I count you in for the lawsuit?
I don't like the state and I don't like to leverage it. That said, I am not sure what it all entails. What would I need to do? For now I am content to let as many of their users/potential users as possible know about this.
Right now, I can phone up the lawyer and see. I think they might want to know how much money you had on Bittrex and screenshots of the website. To be really rigorous, you would want to keep the transaction ids but your wallet already does that.
The idea for now is to talk to lawyer first and for now say that myself and two other people are interested in suing this company who will not return money held in trust to it and get some ideas for options. It really should be hundreds. Come on guys.

I was thinking maybe the US gov. is maybe trying a new strategy to cripple the crypto market by making pressure to the US-based exchanges. For Bittrex this is nothing but a damage to their business and reputation. The funny thing is I was about to transfer my funds to my new hardware wallet to avoid exactly something like this...

I have the same problem. my account on bittrex was enhanced verified. All was going fine but suddenly account disabled. NO support from bittrex on my ticket. Any updates about your plan with the lawyer?

I am suspicious they do not have the money anymore and are hiding behind this excuse. It might be a good time to buy gold with your crypto.
My dough is down to 100 bucks but I've got the same notices. It's the wild west alright! They're making the central banks look good, too, which is no small feat...
Yes, it's worse than the Cyprus "bail-in". The money you had in Bittrex or the money you had out?
That's the crypto in the account.
Send me a notice if and when you do go through with this. My first instinct is to wait for 6-months and see if their policies get straightened out.

Yep! But stay away from Lawyers. I suggest a steady stream of Press from SteemIt and just keep Flooding them with Hate Mail ; )

Can we file a police report to get law enforcement involved?
You can always involve the police if someone is breaking the law. The police report can then be copied and then you have state sanctioned documentation. Then take that to a lawyer and file a law suit. If you attempted verification, you have no anonymity. You might as well come out and fight to get what is yours.
