Nicholas shook Esq. with a couple of friends visited Nigeria briefly six years ago from Las Vegas to learn about the culture and way of life of Nigerians. I was opportuned to be their tour guide and their experiences were worthwhile.
As a resident of Calabar, with a firsthand knowledge of beautiful places to go, mouth-watering restaurants to eat at, historical places to visit, it wasn’t a herculean task being their tour guide.

Calabar, the capital of cross river state has so many beautiful natural spots a tourist would love to visit e.g. the obudu cattle ranch /resort where nature is appreciated from a mountaintop with a temperate climate that is breathtaking. The ranch is also a perfect spot for recreational activities like golf, hiking, and sightseeing.

The Calabar museum also tops the list for a tourist because it houses artifacts and documents that date back to the colonial period, including materials that have to do with the trans-Atlantic slave trade that took place in Nigeria

Nick was thrilled when we visited tinapa (a business and leisure resort). He loved the cool sea breeze and the fun created by children surfing the lazy river. We made several other trips to good bars, restaurants and Nick enjoyed every bit of it. These were some of the African dishes he enjoyed while on his short stay.

There are so many other amazing places like Calabar to visit.

It’s unfortunate that life presents us with a single lifetime to make these trips. The world is beautiful with so many breath-taking landscapes and magnificent cities scattered all over. And only the natives of that region have privileged information that could be cherished by tourists. If only there is proper access to this useful information, tourist would always look forward to making such trips more often yearly.
