NEO developer community (COZ) Weekly Report #2 - 2017.07.16
City Of Zion (COZ) is a group of open source developers that formed over the past weeks to support NEO. We have established channels with the core NEO team in China and provide them with weekly reports that summarize our goals, projects, and progress. In exchange, the NEO foundation is supporting these contributions.
Our governance can be seen by clicking here
Notice: This week, we will be migrating the AntShares community portals (Slack, Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter) to their NEO equivalents. Community instructions detailing this migration will be available shortly in Slack and on the subreddit. The Trello board will not require a migration.
The community has decided to reward 1856 NEO for the efforts listed below
Projects in early development (opportunities for collaboration):
- Unit testing on NEO core
- Youtube mirror of AntShares school videos with english subtitles
- Neo-python (python SDK for neo platform)
- Smart Contracts documentation
Campaigns:
- Stack Exchange:
We are the second fastest community in history to pass the definition phase! A big shout out to our developer community! Now we are in the commit phase and need the experienced Stack Exchange users that want to join us to commit to the proposal.
- We will be distributing 20 ANS to the winners of our campaign during this week.
You can learn more by reading our Reddit post.
Ecosystem:
- Alignment of social media outlets and preparation for moving to the new handles for the NEO community portals
- NEO (COZ) recruitment and selection process.
- NEO - Slackbot: a question-answering bot to make support super responsive!
- CoZ review process: we are consolidating our review process and with new plans for after the full rebrand (stay tuned).
Core:
- Security:
We have added (and are expanding) a continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD) infrastructure for NEO on OSX, Linux and Windows. Security is arguably the most important feature for blockchain projects and over the past weeks we have been doing a core security review and adding unit tests to core code. Now every contribution must pass the security tests before being accepted.
PolyLanguage comment support:
An automated tool for adding multilingual comments on code was developed, if contributors document code in one of our main languages: English, Chinese or Spanish the tool will automatically add the missing languages.
A new Electron wallet for OSX, Linux and Windows was the star of the week, it still being developed but progressing fast, enjoy it in the video bellow.
The CoZ JS SDK has seen continued work:
New high-level network API layer, documentation, and tests for each network method (now in use by electron wallet)New block explorer NEOScan:
We are developing a new open source high performance block explorer to provide APIs for the development of light wallets and other projects.
- Improvements to CLI/RPC Server:
Adding claim and check coin functionality to RPC Endpoint. This will be key to enable other tools to grow in the community supporting the ability to earn GAS from your NEO holdings in all the main operational systems.
That is it! A very busy week for CoZ members considering that this week we also had lots of non code related and time consuming tasks such as channels rebranding, conferences and 2 council members on travel.
See you all next Monday for our #3 report!
FCC on behalf of CoZ council.
wow, this is cool! keep up the good work!
Why is starts from week 2 not week 1?
This is the first in steemit, but the second overall: https://www.reddit.com/r/Antshares/comments/6mft2c/coz_weekly_report_1/
Solid blog. Interesting to see I'm not the only one that is thinking about this. No matter how populair a coin is. People should always do a proper background check. It surprises me how many coins are out there that don't have their basics right. I was wondering if anyone of you uses: https://www.coincheckup.com I really missed a platform that analyses every single coin in depth but this site gave me all the answers.
