CHIMAERA: A WARP ZONE TO AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSES

Do you remember The Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon’s World of Warcraft account was hacked? Leonard comes home to find Sheldon hyperventilating in anxiety, with a police officer standing over him.

Leonard: You called the police because somebody hacked your World of Warcraft account?
Sheldon: What choice did I have? The mighty Sheldor, level 85 blood elf, hero of the Eastern Kingdoms, has been picked clean like a carcass in the desert sun! Plus, the FBI hung up on me!

Well, what would be your first instinct if it were your account? Wouldn’t you want to call the police, the FBI – to set the world on fire? Could you say, “Just a game”?
Or is it more than a game?

Penny: Sorry, Sheldon. I know that game meant a lot to you.
Sheldon: That game! Excuse me, Penny, but Doodle Jump is a game. Angry Birds is a game. World of Warcraft is a massively multi-player online role-playing... All right, technically, it's a game.

Technically, life is a game. Pierre Bourdieu uses the game analogy to explain his key term “habitus” as the “feel or sense of the game” that enables players to play the game. And as for the “field”:

“…I call each of these ‘a field’, that is, an autonomous universe, a kind of arena in which people play a game which has certain rules.” _{–Pierre Bourdieu, 1991}

Bourdieu’s “fields”, of course, refer to social arenas “within which struggles or maneuvers take place over specific resources and the access to them.”
Life itself is indeed like a game; only it offers far bigger rewards.
But now it is time to choose or even build the autonomous universes in which we play. For the rewards holding real world value!
Let’s game on provably fair fields –that is, in unhackable decentralized autonomous game universes built on top of a blockchain-based platform: Chimaera.

THE KEY TO THE OASIS

The key to the gates of the OASIS-like playground lies in the platform’s ability to host and run entire decentralized virtual realities. Gaming on a blockchain-based, secure, decentralized, autonomous and flexible platform sounds really revolutionary, and sure it is, but in a way, it is a follow-up project of some sort. The Chimaera team is none other than the team that developed and deployed the world's first decentralized MMO and the first true blockchain game, Huntercoin. Launched in 2013, Huntercoin was a simple game (players collect coins on a map), but it was also the world’s first human mining permissible cryptocurrency and it achieved a big success.
In fact, after the success of the Huntercoin experiment, the Chimaera team’s first intention was to create a full-on MMO on the blockchain. But then, instead of one game on one blockchain, the project evolved into a platform that would allow developers to create their own blockchain games.
And it makes sense because majority of developers including the most creative ones are unable to reach the gaming market due to technical difficulties and high costs. Three thousand hours clicking on that mouse, collection weapons and gold. It’s almost as if it was a huge waste of time,” followed by a laugh track.

Well, joke's on you.
