Project Progress

1.EOSIO Contracts v1.6.0-rc1 was released.

Glad to see REX will be in the eosio.system contract. Look forward to the community thoroughly testing REX in test networks. The insights gained from the testing can help us improve REX prior to the official release of v1.6.0 of eosio.contracts.

2.Developing Efficient Contracts

BM has published a new article called "developing efficient contracts."He metioned that one of the major challenges facing users of the EOS blockchain is the scarcity of CPU resources. There are two approaches to resolving this scarcity: increase CPU capacity or reduce CPU demand through higher efficiency. Block One is working to increase capacity, but it is up to application developers to write more efficient contracts to reduce demand.

3.EOSIO RAM Resource Exploit Patch

On December 11, 2018 Block.one was made aware of an EOSIO RAM resource exploit via the EOSIO Bug Bounty Program. Block.one rapidly created a patch and distributed it to representatives of various public blockchains based on EOSIO within 24 hours, along with a number of techniques which are intended to mitigate the exploit while they deploy the patch.

Whilst we anticipate the patch will achieve its objective we, along with the various EOSIO-based blockchain communities, will continue to monitor any additional issues identified.

1.Online Hackathon

On December 8th and 9th, EOS Ignite will host an online hackathon, where participants can participate in the competition at home. The competition registration is now open.

2.The winner of the #eoshackathon

GeneEOS won the EOS Global Hackathon Finals and received a $500,000 prize. GeneOS is a blockchain-enabled data ownership, marketplace, and secure computing platform for genomic big data.

3.Dan Larimer at the #eoshackathon Grand Finale

In the EOS Global Hackathon Finals, BM answered questions from the audience through video connections. JonJon Clark summarized the on-site questions and BM's answers.

4.Constitutional Referendum Series Part 2

The EOS Alliance is supporting the community led series known as Project Synchronize with the goal to provide a collaborative and transparent avenue to share all of the different groups work in one place, aggregating the content to create two distinct constitution proposals that can be put side by side for a vote by the community.
