London Escapade - My first Blockchain Event (Blockchain Live)
"When I received this email from Block. One saying they were giving some free registration tickets for the London event to their early investors, I decided that it could be a good opportunity to go and "take the temperature" of the whole thing."
"Why should I go ?"
As a photographer and artist, the blockchain technology interests me in the way it can provide new solutions regarding :
- Intellectual property.
- Art distribution (online or not, sales, auctions...).
- Future of Steemit platform.
Going to London was also a good reason to meet some really nice people I had met previously at Afrika Burn a few months ago. Plus, coming from Marseille in the south of France was really fast and convenient.
Blockchain live
The event was organized by Govnet and mainly sponsored by EOS. Everything was on the dot !
The pass picking up went super fluidly thanks to an automatized QRcode, reading and delivering your actual pass on the fly.
The speaking rooms were quite different in size and has at some point led to some difficulties to attend some speeches due to the crowd.
Dan Larimer (CTO/Block.One), Brenden Blumer (CEO/Block.One) and Brock Pierce (Partner/Block.One), during the Q&A session on Block. One and EOS.
Despite this, it was quite easy to find a good talk, plus it means that more and more people are now interested and curious about the Blockchain Technology and the implications it will have in our future everyday life.
The speeches were diverse and interesting, even Interpol was represented. They were explaining the challenges but also the solutions that this technology are bringing to the international police services to dismantle criminal activities.
Interpol representant about new way of fighting crime and cyber crime.
The talk sessions were spaced enough to be able to go take a coffe in the "Enablers" zone, where it was pleasant to elaborate on the discussion with the other attendants, or take some informations about the dozen of startup that were presenting their respective projects.
Dan Larimer, CTO of Block. One and Craig Sellars discussing on the features and last advancements in the Phase 2 (Minimal Viable Test Network - Fall 2017) of the future EOS blockchain.
"It is my mission to help people like you.." Brock Pierce accepting the business card of someone interested on how to integrate blockchain in his startup whose activity is dedicated to the preservation of the environment .
Jason King and Matt Mckibbin, investors, advisors and former crypto activists, also attending the next week event : World Blockchain forum

It has been a short but fullfilling day for me, I did not answer all my questions, but I saw some good friends and created new one along sharing ideas and concept around this wonderful thing : the blockchain technology.

Amazing reportage with cool photos. It's a good thing you educate yourself and went to the event. If i was able i would have come too since we are connecting BeScouted a photography community in the nearest future as it will also allow rewarding our members with STEEM tokens for creating good content on the platform, image sales with 0% transaction costs and instant payment for the authors (in the future) and many other benefits that blockchain presents.
Yeah that is a good idea, I wonder if it would be nice to wait for the deployment of the EOS blockchain though.
It is in a constant movement, you could ask if it would be nicer to do out own ICO. Anyway, we are having many different thoughts at the moment and we see no reason why we could not implement and let people sign up with steemit accounts when it is working already and offer different options in the future if we can come up with even better solutions while keeping steem rewards as well. Imagine that you earn multiple rewards like STEEM tokens and other new options at the same time when uploading on BeScouted? Because it is perfectly possible.
Yes that is awesome, plus you already have a nice database and really qualitative content, I spent some time on your website last time there is some really good work, congrats !
Thanks! Our comunity is really great. We also are thinking of leaving the discreet voting system which we have now, meaning that you do not know how popular photi is until you vote it. experience has showed that in this case the best images get the most likes, while on steemit people are often voted basef on the earnings photo already has. This allows fair voting on quality content that does not depend so much if a new user has little SP.

As a photographer, I'm really surprised by the fact that so many photographers are on steemit. I don't see the correlation and I can't explain why, but it's amazing :p
Nice reportage there, the pictures are really making us live the event, that's a pretty cool work :)
Thanks ! I think we are just trying to escape the other platforms where the value of the content you create just evaporates. Here on Steemit, when someone upvotes you it means, something. Not to say that all is only about money, but the combination of everything is good, and fair.
Looks like an awesome event!
