WEMARK PROJECT: NO MORE MIDDLEMEN FOR SELLING PHOTOS.

in #blockchain6 years ago

Hello friends, thanks for reading my post. Today I am sharing with you something very interesting about content creation which I believe content creators especially photographers will find very beneficial.

It is a common believe that photographs are the property of any photographer that created them and are automatically copyrighted from the moment of creation, it is therefore a requirements to seek permission from photographers while using their work/photos.
It is expected that photographers right of privacy be respected but that doesn't seems to be so in most cases.
Take for instance, you are a photographer and you took a photo of your 9year old boy intended for personal use. but then, surprisingly to you, your 9year old boy photo is trending on the internet for the wrong reason or even worst still, being used for commercial advertisement purpose even without your permission. Such act is annoying and if I may ask, how would you feel ?
Sad! I gues
Yes...everyone could feel same but would you agree that such sad experience of yours could even be less compared with that of majority of photographers in many sense?
Indeed it is sad and this is why Wemark is now developing a project intended to solve such ugly experiences.

Wemark is a growing community of leading independent photographers that are licensing their photos directly to customers with no agency involved.
Reportedly, the photography marketplace is largely controlled by third parties and agencies such as Shutterstock and Getty that take most of the rights away from photographers and up to 85% of their revenue. Remember, such market giants have already built large audience and majority of photographers solely depend on them in order to sell their products/photos.
These very few giants controlling the ever growing market most times take undue advantages over photographers by charging high fees as well as infringing on photographers privacy rights.
Actors of Wemark believes that the photography market is due disruption which they intend to achieve through the revolutionary blockchain technology.

Photographers will be able to sell their photos directly to customers.

Wemark is developing a blockchain-based marketplace that will not only rewards photographers in a fair and transparent manner but will also respect their rights of privacy while customers also stands to gain.
Instead of depending on the opaque and centralized system operated by photography market giants, photographers and customers will be able to patronize and enjoy the services and features of Wemark marketplace such as the:
🔥 Wemark' curation standard which will help customers to easily find photos of their choice while photographers will be able to produce and submit the right photos that match customer' needs.
🔥 Photographers will be able to attract models by mutual sharing of certain percentage of revenues as determined by photographers.
🔥 Any copyright claims and disputes will be duely resolved on blockchain registry. Photographers will be in control and able to track who licensed their photos.
Unlike other marketplaces, photographers will earn more for their work in a transparent manner while keeping full rights on their photos.
The use of digital currency in Wemark marketplace will also facilitate payment within the system.

Generally, Wemark' project looks very promising and has attracted lots of attention. Informations about their team members can be accessed on LinkedIn and their official website, their alpha product has already been released and in use. The ICO is currently ongoing and will end on 7th August, 2018.
