Thinking of the future

Hi,

I've talked to a very good friend of mine today, about his kid, that needs to come in a couple of months. We both come from families, that value the kids and the next generations a lot. He and me, try to build the concept o generational wealth, and family heritage, that shall be passed on, to our not known descendants. This is what our ancestors did.

Sadly, we both have been born in communism, which is the most dehumanizing political system ever. It does not care about history, it does not care about future, it does not care about individuals, about human life and families in general. It never did, and if someone tells you that they are communist, ask them how long they have lived under such a regime.

So, our ancestors build something. I've traced some of mine till 1606, after the Long Turkish War from 1593 to 1606, one of my grand-grand-...-grand-father, started the journey, after the war, he got ennobled for bravery in the war. Our family coat of arms became a lion, with a sword and a Turkish-head with turban spiked on it. Well, this ancestor of mine understood, that through his sacrifice, the upcoming generations will have a foundation to build on. During the 300 years till World War I, the wealth was slowly growing, with business racing from cattle growth, to having an own winery. This we found out with some family books that my grandfather managed to hide from the communist. Also, we went to the old catholic churches in the region, where they had the documents about the people. Before the state, the church was handling the documents of birth, marriage and death.

Of course, in the past 400 years, there have been some black swan events, like the revolution of 1848, the Hungarian raise to power in Transylvania in 1867, some Turkish invasions and like said, the pest of communism, which raised to the ground a lot of the things build for centuries.

I was the 5th generation in the family to attend university. Not many people can say that. Ok, the 1st and 2nd have been in the military, 3rd and 4th in medicine, and me in engineering.

Why I'm telling you this? Well, the one who does not know the past, tends to make the same mistake as the ancestors in the past. We shall learn from them, and always do new ones, so that the next generations have a better future.

I want to teach my kid the same values. Without values, we drift in life like mindless zombies, without purpose. Heritage needs a foundation, and it is our duty to build it. Even if we are the first generation to realize it, start building and developing. Have kids, this is why we are born, to have kids and to take care of them.

Give them values, learn the worth of work, intelligence, and risk. Teach them sports, at leats two, one individual and one team sport. Teach them chess, and an instrument. Inspire them to the love of reading.

Teach them young about money, and patience.

Also, don't feed them crap, feed them good meat, a lot of greens and fresh air.

It's your duty to build a legacy.

How about you? How do you see it??
