Hi,

there have been some studies on longevity, and one of the things that mattered, besides food, pollution, physical activity and stress management, was relationships. Family and friends, both matter. A lot of people focus on work, mostly for somebody else, and they neglect the family and social interactions. In twenty years, the kids, the wife, and parents will remember the sacrifice, but the firm not. Remember that, if you want to sacrifice your time, do it for your own firm, which you can hand over to your kids, else you just build wealth for somebody else.

I've noticed this the hard way, when fighting with depression. You can read more in this post.

Now, I focus a lot on family and friends. There is no day when I don't talk to my parents, for example, even if they are far away. Also, I try to reach every day at least 5 of my friends and people that I know, to speak with them. These two actions improved my life, by a lot, as there has been an increase in most areas, from wealth to health. Having a healthy network, will open doors that one could not have imagined that they existed. I would recommend checking your network or circle o friends once in a while. If people are pulling you down, don't help and always try to talk you down, they are not your friends, even if they have a higher social status. You don't need them, you need a clean circle of trust, willing to help, without asking anything in return. All my friends get help from me, from crushing over to financial help in case of need. Another thing, never brag about when you help someone, never, as if you brag about it, you just want to feed your ego and will probably humiliate the other person.

Trust in a relationship is build had, and destroyed fast, remember that. Also, the current trend in the society is to destroy families, friendships, and relationships. Look at how the media is trying to induce hate just because of diverse point of views. Here, I'm happy that other people think different than I do, as no one has the truth. Don't fight for opinions, it is not worth it.
Also, society wants us to work more, not for us, both for others. It happened before, and it will happen in the future, where the concept of family and friends will be under attack.

To sum up:

  • life gets better and longer with good relationship with family and friends
  • build genuine relationships, and if you help, never ask for anything in return
  • never brag about helping someone

How about you? How do you see it?
