From the mud to harvest
Every time I look at a green rice field, I think about how a simple bowl of rice has a story that's much longer than most people realize. Each grain has a journey full of hard work, patience, and hope—something that starts long before the rice is ready to be harvested.
It begins with a muddy field waiting to be prepared.
Years ago, in Indonesian villages, farmers didn’t use tractors.Instead, they used strong cows to plow the land. The cows pulled a wooden tool as the farmer walked barefoot through the mud, carefully guiding each step.It was tough work, but it was also a tradition that stayed with families for many generations.
