And I Actually Got Wind Of It
And we need more of that. So if you live in a community, you're unhappy. I'm not saying this is an attack on anybody, but you see an opportunity to run for office and you believe you can be that voice.
We need more people like rep Luna and with really good voting records like my former record. But all I can say is, I encourage everybody to partake, but please weigh the consequences of privacy being forever taken from you and having to understand to navigate a very, very strange world that has become politics, especially on the safety side. I mean, we all saw what happened to Charlie Perk.
He wasn't even an elected official. God, you know, may his soul rest in peace. But rep Luna and I have very famously and along with rep Gates and Boebert and even rep AOC and MTG, because we're all very passionate about what we believe in, we've been constantly at risk.
And Luna, if you want to talk on that, I think just so people understand, but it's important to never back down and to understand that it does come with a very tough hill to climb, but the reward is you're fighting for your country. Yeah, I'll actually let people know. So we had when I first got elected, I had a hit piece written about me in the Washington Post, and you guys probably saw me receive that because they had been forced to issue retractions, etc.
And Time Magazine ultimately did interview and they realized that I was telling the truth. And so that's kind of all in the past, but they named me next 100. But all that to say that, you know, the first time I ran, apparently my records, my military service records had been leaked to a Democrat oppo firm.
And I actually got wind of it, because in that hit piece that came out, one of my rating supervisors from when I had served in the military was contacted by a journalist, actually at the New York Times. And the only way that they would have been able to locate him is if they would have actually looked at my military service records. And so ultimately, the New York Times was like, we're not going to write this story.
