You Know Who She Reminds Me

in #blog14 days ago

A thing I came in late because I was busy with important people. That's for you, Rick. I was wondering, you know, I'm not a very musical person.

And I really enjoyed the birthday celebration of Kwan last night at the tail end. And I heard Sheila contributing, which was beautiful. But I just wanted to say, you know, I'm not beautiful at all.

But my favourite artist of all time was Nina Simone. And I would just love to make a very special request. If anyone could do one of her most beautiful, memorable songs tonight.

I don't know if that's cheeky of me to ask. But I'd love that. Which one? Anyone.

I mean, I possibly wouldn't go for the more political tributes that she did to so many amazing leaders. But I would, just any of her. I think all her music is beautiful.

And then I just wanted to say, I'm interfering. And then I just wanted to say, I was so delighted and very grateful to see Echo Mountain back in the audience. And he's been so missed, certainly by myself.

I always sneak into his profile and he has a most remarkable wisdom. And I just wanted to especially say I'm very grateful to see you tonight as part of the audience. Thank you.

The speakers. Thank you. Thanks, Sheila.

So would like 99 Lost Balloons be an insult to Tina? Guess what I found. Is it playing, Tim? It's feeling good. It's a new life for me.

Yeah, it's a new dawn, it's a new day. It's a new life for me. And I'm feeling good.

I was actually going to choose that song. So it's awesome. Yeah.

You can sing that one. That's a good one. Next time.

Next time. You know which one is also beautiful and very easy to sing if you want to practice something with Nina Simone? My baby just cares for me. It's short, it's fun, it's good.

I can send you the karaoke tape if you would like that. I think Nina Simone had the greatest voice of all times, combining raspiness, sweetness, depth, freedom, clarity. It is indescribable if that's even a word.

I think it just created a new word, yeah. But it is. Thank you, Kim.

It's been a while since I listened to her and you made me remember. Sorry, sorry, one. Yeah, I wanted to say something to Kim.

You know which one is my favorite of hers? It's not that well-known, I guess, but Wild is the Wind. And I would really want to cover that song someday, but it's so beautiful. It's awesome.

Thank you for reminding us, Kim. That's awesome. You know who she reminds me of, guys? Is it Etta James? Do you know that one, Kim, Etta James? She kind of reminds me.

That's her tone as well. That's a good one, too. Sheila, can I? Sorry, I'm sorry.
