House of Cards: Season 5 Review (SPOILERS)

For those of you that have watched House of Cards religiously like I have, over the past few years, you might be just as shocked by the ending of season 5 as I was.

More so, you might have been shocked by the entire season. For me, Kevin Spacey's dominating performance of Frank Underwood has always been the thing that has drawn me back to the show. I didn't get that feeling this season. Frank Underwood was careless, foolish, and not in control of his own house. He has always been level headed (however diabolical his plans are). He has always been ten steps ahead of everyone else. This season he was not ahead of the curve and was betrayed by the person who should be there for him more than anyone.
I don't understand this need for such a paradigm shift. Why does Claire need to be the center of attention? Frank JUST won the election that the last three seasons have been building up to. Now it's gone and he might be charged for his crimes committed. This is essentially the outcome that everyone saw coming but no one wanted to truly see unfold. I always figured that if Frank did go down in flames, Claire would be right there with him. A Romeo and Juliet ending. Instead, we're force-fed this new feminist agenda that Hollywood refuses to let go. I don't have a problem with the idea of a woman becoming president. In this show, however, it just didn't fit. None of it did.
